La Chimena Restaurant in Germantown WI
La Chimenea Restaurant (1 - 4) was built around an old Wisconsin bar situated on a busy state highway. When the road was widened the bar no longer met the set back code, and since it still had the liquor license, the owner did not want to demolish the building and build new! The Southwestern architectural accents of the new restaurant match that of the owners offices which share the parking lot. The selected blocks blended with the sand and Lannon Stone exterior of both buildings, and we found it was very easy to work with. The height of some of the walls including the columns were 16 feet. There were some challenges in laying the grid so that it did not interfere with construction of the outdoor patio, which was encircled in blocks. Drainage of the patio had to be planned, with weep holes built into the wall. Although the owner originally considered a paver patio and handicap ramp, he decided to use poured concrete instead. The handicap ramp had to be carefully planned for the correct slope for wheelchairs. Aldrich Chemical Hydroseeding & Retention Ponds
Aldrich Chemical (37 - 38) has been one of our largest commercial jobs. In these pictures you can see what an area looked like just before hydro seeding and riprap were installed. The second picture shows the same area a short time later. Milwaukee Private School
About half the work we do is commercial landscaping, where we are hired by a general contractor. This private school (22) in Milwaukee improved its playground area by building a covered play area surrounded by sand boxes enclosed by lannon stone edging.
